Gin: A Tasting Course by Anthony Gladman
Just picked up a copy of this fabulous book ‘Gin: A Tasting Course’ by Anthony Gladman published by DK Living UK. It is beautifully laid out and informs the reader about how gin is made and some background on how flavour works. He has reviewed over 100 gins by taste (including Bertha) and it is one of the best books on gin we have come across.
We are delighted the book features Bertha, thank you Anthony! In good company too.
In all good bookshops now.

The Alternative St. Valentine’s Bash
Join us on Saturday, 17th February for the antithesis of the traditional Valentines night out. Instead of couples dining on their own, we will be hosting a long-table dinner where guests will sit together, feast, socialise and enjoy live entertainment from crooner Ronnie Costley who will be singing Sinatra and other Rat-Pack era faves. Perfect for couples, groups of friends and anyone else looking to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day slightly differently this year.

‘The Guardians of Irish Breakfast’ John & Sally McKenna
“Whilst chain hotels have careered down the path of the zombie breakfast buffet, there are still many, many people in Irish hospitality who understand that breakfast is the final experience that guests get to enjoy, so it is of the utmost importance to the experience of staying in Ireland.
Thing is, it’s not easy to do right.”
We are delighted Ballyvolane House was featured in this article by John and Sally McKenna as one of the standouts for championing Irish breakfast. Thank you!

Come and stay soon and explore the many wonderful walking trails and hikes nearby where you can take in breathtaking views and sunsets of north east County Cork. Alternatively, just sit back and relax in front of our open log fires with a good book whilst you sip on a Bertha’s Hedgerow Martini.

We would also like to thank our amazing team, who’s hard work and dedication is fundamental to the well-being of Ballyvolane House.
