We hope you are all keeping safe and well. The gardens at Ballyvolane House are looking magical now and it’s a real shame we don’t have any guests here to take in the sights, sounds and smells. The house feels a bit quiet too as it purrs when it is full of people. We suspect options to rent a villa overseas this year will be somewhat curtailed and why not ‘staycation’ at home this summer in a glorious authentic Irish country house? The safety and well-being of our guests and staff is incredibly important to us now, more than ever. Rest assured we will follow and comply with all the Government guidelines and we feel Ballyvolane House is the perfect place to stay safe, relax in splendid surroundings and be your ‘home from home’ during the summer of 2020. All being well, we will reopen from 20th July 2020.

We are currently closed at present due to the Irish Government restrictions during this health crisis. The situation in Ireland is improving by the day with local transmissions falling. Following the Government’s roadmap to the easing of restrictions, we are looking forward to reopening Ballyvolane House to guests from the 20th July 2020.

The safety and well-being of our colleagues and guests is incredibly important to us now, more than ever. Rest assured we will follow and comply with all the Government guidelines to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

We are so sorry that so many of our guests from overseas won’t be able to make it here this year, but we look forward to welcoming them next year instead. This summer we look forward to welcoming lots of guests based here in Ireland, especially those who would normally rent a villa somewhere in Europe but due to COVID-19, have decided to ‘staycation’ at home this year.

In the interests of protecting the safety of our staff and guests, we have decided to open the house on a private rental basis only this summer. It will be much easier to manage the risk of infection by having one family group or a small group of friends to stay.

Delighted to share this blog posted by Celina from One Fab Day of a recent wedding featuring a lovely Irish couple living in Edinburgh. Like us, they are fans of Winnie The Pooh and the tables were named after locations in the 100 acre wood. Stunning pics by Martina California.They honeymooned in Japan for the Rugby World Cup 2019 afterwards. Happy memories of what was a very happy day. We are delighted to be included in this feature in Conde Nast Traveller. HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall stayed at Ballyvolane House in June 2018 and they were utterly charming as were their entire entourage. It was fantastic for Cork and the locality and we loved having them here. They enjoyed Bertha tipples too.

“BALLYVOLANE HOUSE, COUNTY CORK, IRELAND This magical family-run hotel in the County Cork countryside was the ideal place for a royal sleepover when Prince Charles and Camilla were on an official tour of Cork in the summer of 2018. Built in 1728, this historic house, which has been in the hands of the Green family since the 1950s, is surrounded by a bluebell-carpeted woodland and acres of luscious emerald fields, giving guests as much seclusion as they wish. Inside, gleaming polished floors and doors with painted panels of intricate flowers and chirpy birds await, a nod to the antique, vintage-inspired décor that takes over the rest of the house. There’s a homely feel to the place – expect one of the family’s terriers to roll over for a rub as well as a tasting of the homemade gin, called Bertha’s Revenge Gin; Prince Charles even took a bottle home.”
